Playing with Fire

One of the most challenging photography skills for me so far has been taking pictures in the dark. A few nights ago, we broke out our firepit to enjoy the nice weather, so I took advantage of the opportunity and snapped away. Fire is so beautiful, yet so dangerous.

Oh, I also caugh a few cool photos of the full moon!

Girls Night Out (Sorta)

Once a month, my high school friends and I get together for dinner. Now and then, like last night, we invite our significant others and kids over. My friend Lori Ann & her husband hosted and their theme was "Summer Burger Bar". Here are a few quick shots I snapped. (PS - What do you think of the editing on the portrait? Too much?)

Beyond the Coasters

As unbelievable as it is that we would actually want to hit another theme park this weekend, we decided to head to Six Flags Magic Mountain today. I decided to tote my Nikon today, having learned my lesson after Disneyland. Here are the fruits of my labor.

The Happiest Place on Earth

For the past 2 days, we have been at Disneyland celebrating my son's 6th birthday. I decided to leave my D-SLR behind in favor of my trusty Powershot and boy did I regret it once I got there. SO many photo opportunities that I hadn't thought of. I won't make that mistake again. Since I had the opportunity though, I decided to play with the manual settings on my Powershot to see if I could catch anything decent. You be the judge.

Cute Model Alert: Audrey & Ryken

Last weekend, I attended a going away party for a dear friend. Between all of my friends, we have quite a few little kidlets running around. At some point during the party, we decided to get the almost-2 year old and the 8 month old together and snap a few photos. The backdrop and lighting were not great for an impromptu photo shoot, but I tried to make it work the best I could. In addition, MY 5 year old son refused to either get in or out of the pictures, so I had to do some creative cropping on these. They aren't my favorite as far as skill goes, but Audrey and Ryken sure are cute, so that's makes it a good night in my book.
